Thank you for your interest in our work. We bet you are keen to find out what we can do for you.
So first of all: DMK stands for: "Deutschsprache Medizinstudierende Karls-Universität", which means German-speaking medical students of Charles University. We are a student-run non-profit organisation with the aim to bridge the gap between your student life at Charles University and your future medical career in Germany.
In more concrete terms: We help from how to apply to medical school, how to get an internship or clinical rotation, how to apply for and coordinate a dissertation/doctoral thesis, all the way to completing "Approbation" and receiving the residency spot of your choice in Germany. We hereby rely on a steadily growing network of senior students and alumni, who've already achieved their goals, speak the language and have experience with the procedures, lying ahead.
In the future we have many workshops and events in planning. We will discuss common obstacles that medical students face, like clinical rotations, internships, applications and much more. Also discounted langue courses for english-german and Czech-German are about to open for sign-up.
In a nutshell: Our goal is to utilise our collective knowledge and experience to improve the quality of your course through medical school and beyond.
We would be happy to greet you as a new active member of our organisation and encourage you to share your experiences with our community. For any questions you might have, we prepared a short FAQ section below.
We are looking forward to hearing from you!
PS: We are currently working on a full website translation. Feel free to check out the german section and improve your german while you do so!
We have recognized that there is a lot to improve for (potentially) German-speaking medical students in the Czech Republic. We know from our own experience how difficult it can be to find spots for clinical rotations, internships, to apply for a license to practice medicine or to organize a job or a doctoral thesis in Germany. That is why we have accumulated a great deal of know-how and experience in order to make these processes as easy as possible. In the future, we also want to organize interesting seminars and events to spread information and strengthen cooperation.
We are grateful for our committed members who volunteer and spend their time helping us. In order to represent our topics strongly, however, the costs incurred must also be covered. A one-time membership fee of € 5 / 125 CZK and additional donations from our members and Charles University help to maintain our independence from sponsors and advertising. We believe that for the price of a large cup of coffee, we have a lot to offer.
We always look forward to new members. Below you find our membership application. We are happy to receive your ideas, suggestions and criticism using the contact address below. Also subscribe to the newsletter so that you don't miss any news.
